Sorting/Stuffing Back to School Supplies for Homeless Children
This event was my first experience to volunteer through NAAAP. I personally thought this was a well-organized event, and organizations like Save the Family can always use more volunteers. The event started with an introduction to Save the Family by Michelle Alvis of the Save the Family staff, followed by a video about the organization and its work.

Since all the school supplies were laid out on the table, our job was to pack them in groups of four. Various school supplies like erasers, pencils, glue, books, notepads, folders, school bags, and markers were donated from NAAAP’s recent networking/charity event. By 7:15 p.m., the NAAAP volunteers had packed all the backpacks for the school year for the children in Save the Family’s programs.

“We have joined NAAAP to meet other professionals for social, cultural events and increase our circle of friends for future business opportunities”.

My wife and I have attended just two events, but I feel all the people we have met are friendly and they welcome you. At NAAAP, we are looking for professional development and networking opportunities with professionals from different organizations and backgrounds. We think this organization should also, in the long run, be proactive with politics and may be someone among us might run someday for a seat in Congress, since we, as immigrants, have contributed a lot to the economy.
